What we do
Adult ADHD Northwest is a specialist private clinic offering comprehensive assessment and treatment for adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Founded and led by Dr Joe Johnson, Consultant Psychiatrist with over 15 years’ experience in ADHD diagnosis and treatment, our service combines clinical expertise with compassionate care. We offer video consultations to adults across the UK and beyond. Our approach is grounded in the latest evidence and national guidelines (NICE). We understand the challenges ADHD can present across different stages of adult life and aim to help each patient achieve meaningful improvements in day-to-day functioning and wellbeing.
Who We See
We assess and treat:
-
Adults aged 17 years and older
-
Individuals with suspected ADHD who have never been formally assessed
-
Adults who were diagnosed in childhood and wish to re-engage with treatment
-
Patients whose ADHD was missed earlier due to co-occurring mental health issues
-
Those who have been waiting a long time for an NHS assessment and prefer to proceed privately
We strongly recommend that those wishing to access our service are referred to us by their GP as this may increase the likelihood of your GP being willing to prescribe any future prescribed medication. We also accept referrals from other clinicians and therapists.

This session will provide clarity and a pathway forward in managing ADHD effectively.

Pre-Assessment Screening
Once your referral is accepted, you’ll receive a pack of structured ADHD rating scales, functional impairment questionnaires, and ...

The Diagnostic Assessment
The main assessment is a detailed clinical interview lasting approximately 90 to 120 minutes, conducted via secure video consultation.

Feedback and Report
Following the assessment, a full written diagnostic report is prepared (usually within 2 weeks).

Psychological & Lifestyle Support
While we do not currently offer therapy or coaching, we strongly encourage a holistic approach to managing ADHD

Shared Care with Your GP
This involves the transfer of prescribing responsibilities to your GP with a review appointment once a year in the ADHD clinic
